Ever so often, I officially take the time to sit and write out the vision for my life. Not necessarily my mission, but literally how I see myself and the vision I have for my life. The following was my vision penned on a late night while on retreat with the Dean of Women from Hampton University, where I was employed at the time.
I encourage you to take 10 minutes, find a quiet space and let yourself dream freely. Let the pen flow, your fingers speak from your heart on keys, painting the vision you have for your life. While not all of these visions from 2009 have not come to pass YET, after all these years, I do find that today I am many of the things I envisioned for my life 10 years ago. Peaceful, fragrant, in love with God, knowing Him more. In a clean home that smells good…clean air, no excess of dust….one cat, maybe two…with my husband, candles burning throughout the house regularly, not cheap candles but Febreeze…Yankee even…Home Interiors…J. Crew sweaters, book tours, sharp hair…bangin’ brows, healthy fit body…Ann Taylor skirts, shoes of many options. Clear skin, bright eyes, always smiling, even when I’m not…lovely voice, three children…at least…supporting my husband’s business. Live shows…jazz music, traveling to see Jon in L.A., supporting the Kappa House in Philly. Degree on wall…counseling young people…loving on them whenever they need love, which is always…long walks with my husband…closing our first home, furnishing our first home…closing our second, furnishing…warm colors in the living areas…blues and purples in the bedroom…candles…ceiling fans…book of poetry…writing daily…marathon…pain and pleasure…accomplishment…reading for enjoyment. Blue water…monthly facials…Inhale…exhale…breath deep…inhale exhale…yoga expert…Pilates warrior…I’m good…I’m toned…I’m in shape. Singing, painting…yard work…visiting girlfriends…feeding the homeless…private parties…VIP…wine connoisseur…wow, I correctly spelled connoisseur…lol laughing, loving, preaching…art on walls…fire burning…visiting family…sending them money. Giving money to strangers…taking them to eat. RL…in silver…Options…standing tall…confidence…sharing my energy…positivity. Sunday mornings…inhale exhale…fruits and veggies…healthy…bike rides in the park…FAMILY. Home in Riverside Park at home…enjoying snow in Upstate NY…healthy hands…strong hands…water fountain. Trickling water…weekends in Savannah…Charleston…NYC…Chicago…DC…LA…Some random town in the country…the will of God. Speaking at conferences…collaborating on research…in sociological journals…swimming…music makes me high…

Woman. Wife – Intimate, free, fulfilled…Fragrant, earthy, woodsy, clean, bright, free, bold. I am a host – getting paid thousands of dollars hosting events locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Expenses are paid for, my husband can travel with me…I get paid to model, sing and act in commercial and fashion ads, web series and more…I participate in the creation of documentaries, collaborating with story tellers and truther bearers. I shine as a mentor, moderator, panelist…in all that I do.
I help organizations raise millions of dollars through event fundraising and as a live auctioneer. I connect great organizations with amazing people and help build up strong, healthy people through great organizations. I have the mentors and investors I need. I am making over $4,000 a month doing the work I love and even more monthly from the sales of merchandise associated with my brand #WeBeTheLight.
I am an author with four books, with publishing. My house is debt free. I lift my husband up in all he does and all that he is as we continue to grow together in every area of our lives. I LOVE Puerto Rico and Los Angeles. I am grateful for every opportunity that comes my way. I make divine appointments – am in the right place, at the right time to meet the right people who make up divine connections.
I am in the Word. I become the Word. I display the Love of Christ in all I do, bringing glory to the name of God. I am a blessing to others, financially, emotionally, physically as I encounter them on this journey. I buy beautiful thoughtful gifts for those I love. I pay for strangers’ bills and am able to give them money when led to do so.
I do not doubt. I walk in faith. I recognize and trust my intuition by the leading of the Holy Spirit.
